Rathlin Island is next in our numbered sequence as the ferry to Rathlin Island's main port of Church Bay runs from Ballycastle. It should be noted that the ferry only takes limited car traffic so you should be prepared to view Rathlin Island the way it was intended to be seen - by walking. There are walking trails all around the island which has dimensions of only six miles long and one mile wide.
In the harbour is the Boathouse, where visitors can learn the history of the island and see some artefacts from shipwrecks around the island. You can then go for a short walk around to Mill Bay where there is a colony of seals who are always eager to be watched.
On the west of the island, there is a Seabird Centre where puffins and other birds can be viewed. On clear days you can see Donegal, the North Antrim coastline and the Mull of Kintyre. Rathlin Island is the The island is also the northernmost point of the Antrim Coast and Glens Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Activities that are prevalent on the island include walking the various trails and diving. The diving around Rathlin Island is also well-known as there are numerous shipwrecks to be seen including the HMS Drake which was torpedoed in 1917.
