| Scuba Diving and Diving in Northern Ireland
Northern Ireland may not have the Great Barrier Reef but it does have some of the finest diving locations in the world, featuring shipwrecks, reefs, sheer underwater cliffs, soft corals and abundant sea life. The north coast offers some of the best diving sites, however the Strangford Lough and Belfast Lough also offer up very good diving sites also that should not be missed. Take the plunge!
There are approximately 400 shipwrecks in the waters of Northern Ireland that offer a diver a real treat. Some of the more popular include the HMS Drake, a torpedoed cruiser off Rathlin Island, a large yacht, Alastor, that sank in Strangford Lough and a World War II German submarine that is off the coast of Portstewart.
Outdoor activity centres and clubs dot Northern Ireland if you are interested in taking the plunge! |
