  • Mountain Biking in Northern Ireland

Northern Ireland is a great place to mountain bike as the country is just so beautiful.  There are downhill trails for those who like speed and there are cross country trails for the endurance type.  Trails vary in length so you do not have to do such a long ride if you do not want to.

Mountain bikes can be rented from the Outdoor Activity Centres scattered across the country however the amount you spend is indicative of the quality bike that you will get.  Given the abuse that the bike will take, it is recommended to spend more on the rental for comfort of mind and behind!

A recommended trail is the Castle Archdale Family Cycling Trail north west of Enniskillen.  The six mile trail goes through a mature forest on shores of Lower Lough Erne and is a peaceful ride through countryside.

Castlewellan Forest Park trail is another recommended trail.  This trail is set among the magnificent Mourne Mountains, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and has splendid views to offer.
