Caving in Northern Ireland

There is a quote by the Northern Irish Tourist Board that caving is a way to see the inner beauty of Northern Ireland! A bit cheesy, but caving does what it says on the tin. Caving is about experiencing some of the 50 km of caves that are available for exploring in Northern Ireland with the longest being 7 km in length.
It should be noted that beginners start with horizontal caves where they sometimes even have to swim to explore the cave to its fullest. Once you have mastered this art, the experienced caver will start exploring vertical caves which may require ropes and ladders as needed.
The Marble Arch Caves European Geopark takes in caves in the two counties of Cavan and Fermanagh. This Geopark has been recognised by UNESCO (the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation) as having exceptional geological heritage as it boasts some of the island of Ireland’s most beautiful nature landscapes.
Also, the Adventure Learning Park in the Belfast Activity Centre also has over 200 metres of man-made climbing areas where you can practice some of your caving skills!
