  • Mountain Boarding in Northern Ireland

What is mountain boarding?  Imagine surfing...down a hill...using a skateboard...with extreme wheels...your padding (if you fall) is dirt (or mud, if it is raining...).  Sounds like fun!Mountain board ready for action!

Mountain boarding is also known as dirtboarding, grass boarding, offroad boarding and all-terrain boarding.  Mountain boarding is obvious not for the faint hearted and should be undertaken only after at least an introductory lessen and with all safety equipment in working order.

It is said that mountain boarding was invented as a summer sport for snowboarders but it was so fun that it became a sport in itself.

There is one activity centre in Northern Ireland that offers mountain boarding.  They are Surfin' Dirt Mountain Boarding near the villlage of Kilcoo, in Co. Down set in the Mourne Mountains.  Mountain boarding takes place in all weather.

Submit your pictures to us if you partake in this activity and we'll post them on the website under Users Stories/Photos
